Information concerning the loss of Herbert Franzisket - killed 08.05.1944

Hi,

Can anyone provide information on the loss of Herbert Franzisket who was a fighter pilot who was killed in an air battle on the 8th May 1944?

I think he might have been in JG27. Was he the brother of Ludwig Franzisket?

Thanks

Rick

Hello Rick,

on 8 May 1944 the II./JG 27 took off in Wiesbaden-Erbenheim. Around ten o’clock the group encountered a Liberator formation with P-47, P-51 and P-38 escort fighters in the area Hannover. In the air battle the group lost 4 Bf 109. 3 pilots were killed in action, among them Ofhr Heribert Franzisket of 4./JG 27. He flew the Bf 109 G-6 WNr. 163333 white 3 and was shot down near Neustadt am Rübenberge northwest of Hannover. He bailed out and was shot dead by an American fighter pilot hanging on the parachute.
