Fw 190 A-7/R6.

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what is the origin of information that was used for creating the markings of this plane (usued also for the profile in "Aircraft in Action #19" (1975) and for the picture of Nowarra's book (cover) "Fw 190 & Ta 152" (1987). :

Hi JCM,
I have a photo (book unknown) :
FW190 A-6/Neptun, with JG300 emblem on the cowling and complete set of antennas. Crash landed at Le Bourget, 6/7 february 1944.
The WGr21 tubes are pure fiction!

Re: Fw 190 A-7/R6.

Last night I wrote longish post about this aircraft and then for some log in reasons I've lost the post :) so here is short version.

Photo of this aircraft is published in J-V Lorant & R Goyat's JG 300 "Wilde Sau" Volume 1 book (Eagle Editions) and is listed as belonging to II./JG 300.

Furthermore - profile which is quite different from renders made in 70s and 80s mentioned above is published on the page 329 (artwork by T. Tullis).

Armorama published a review (HERE) and the profile of the aircraft is included (PROFILE).

Profile (and photo) show lighter area under/around the "21" on the fuselage and I strongly believe that the aircraft could have been just wiped clean in that area rather than painted... but again who will know.
