I'm looking for informations about Albacore used by Aden communication flight at the end of WW 2 I think.

Two such were: Albacore I BF588 Delivered 76 MU 17.3.42 RNARY Nairobi 11.42 796 Sqn Tanga ('M':'F') 11.41- 5.43 RNARY Nairobi 11.43 To RAF Middle East 28.2 44 Soroti to Juba with (Albacore) X9259, u/s on landing, white metal found in oil sump 7.44 Tested with new engine 2.11.44 To Malakal escorted by Anson AW858 from Kisumu 5.12.44 Aden CF 8.4.45-9.46. and ... Albacore I X9259 Delivered 76 MU 8.2.42 RNARY Nairobi 11.43 Soroti with BF588 7.44 To RAF 13.2.45 Aden CF 12.45-12.46 Overshot landing downhill, bounced on ridge, starboard u/c hit tree, swung, port u/c collapsed Mafid Cat 'A' 18.12.45 (F/O Zratanackovic RAF OK) Engine trouble, forced-landed Khormaksar, Cat 'AR' 9.1.46 See: FAA Aircraft 1939 to 1945 Sturtivant,Ray with Mick Burrow Tunbridge Wells:Air-Britain (Historians),1995. pp.141-2 There were others, such as: X9261, X9279, X9287 etc. Col. |
