825 Sqn Swordfish shot down 29/5/40
Hi guys
I am aware that five Swordfish from 825 Squadron were shot down by Bf109s near Calais on 29 May 1940. The following aircrew were taken prisoner. Can anyone provide Christian names: Lt A. Neeley, Lt R. Wood, Sub Lt(A) J. Nicholson, N/Air V. Moore, N/Air F. Rumsey. Has anyone seen a report by 825 Squadron survivors? Cheers Brian |

Re: 825 Sqn Swordfish shot down 29/5/40
Hi.
I've just come across this rather old post while researching Moore. His full name was Victor Sydney Moore, and there seems to be some confusion over the date of him being shot down. There is a rather full post on the RAFCommands forum, but it appears that he was shot down with Neely on the 28th May, with Neely being captured. Moore seems to have made it back to the UK and was shot down and taken POW on the 29th May. Johnnie |
