Spanish He 59s
Does anybody know the details (WNr, Skz) of the three He 59s left behind in Spain at the end of the SCW and whether or not Spain returned them or used them (and from where) operationally during WW2?

A total of between 25 and 27 He 59 were used by AS./88 in Spain As far as I know nothing is known about their WNr or former SKZ Their s/n with Legion Condor was 521 to 526, 528 to 546 or possibly as high as 548, but the last two are undocumented. At least 17 were totally written off with AS./88, but the number is probably higher. Very few of these are identified from Spanish sources. Most of them flew unmarked and it is very difficult to ID anyone from existing photos The survivors were handed over to the Nationalist side who gave them type number 71. Some sources say they were re-serialled already when in use by AS./88. I have very few photos of 71 registered He 59, in fact the only one I know of is 71-2:( The number of survivors when handed over is reported as five. Cheers Stig |

Many thanks, Stig. When nothing came up on this thread, I posted on the LEMB http://www.luftwaffe-experten.org/fo...howtopic=10507 and got some info from there
