Oblt Hans Autenrieth 11./NJG1
A great uncle of mine was shot down by Hans Autenrieth in 1943.
I would be interested to know if anyone out there has any information on Hans. I have looked through the forum archive, and there was a member of this forum by the name of Khorat who had information on Hans Autenrieth, but he has not been seen here for a couple of years by the look of things. If anyone has any information (on Khorat as well) I would be very grateful. Many thanks, Nacluv |

The Theo Boiten book 'Night Airwar' ISBN 1-86126-298-1 has several mentions of him including his capture.

Thanks, Brian. I'll check that one out.
Coincidentally, my Great Uncle was called Theo. Cheers, Nacluv |

Re: Oblt Hans Autenreith 11./NJG1
Thanks for your replies guys.
I am interested in this case in particular because the old archive posts from Khorat state that he was in possession of Hans Autenreith's photo album. This contained photos of many of his claims apparently. I believe that my uncle's aircraft (a Wellington) would have been in one of the photos. I have found many accounts of his exploits online, but I note that some seem to be confused with someone else - i.e. some accounts state that he was KIA in December 1944. This would appear to be the fate of one Oblt Hans-Heinz Augenstein, also of NJG1... To summarise, the main point of my enquiry is to see if it is possible to track down the photo album or its keeper. Many thanks again. |
