Avatar section

Ruy,

First of all congratulations for this new board, I really like the look and the design. What about an avatar section, I suggest that in the avatar section only Aiplanes of World War II will be available to choose from.

Regards

The whole look of the forum might still change as I get a grip on its code, but I'd rather see it get up to speed first.

But indeed colors, buttons, logos, layout and even to some extend functionality might still change.

Hi Ruy – my first post on this forum.
I’ve enjoyed the design so far but this I have to comment on. I would appreciate if you could keep the unnecessary graphical contents to a minimum i.e. no avatars. I somehow feel it would make this forum no different from so many others out there. 12OCH has always had a reputation as a no-nonsense forum with many distinguished participants. OK, I know – all work and no play… But still, I think the forum would benefit if the design reflected the ambition.

Personally I am also leaning towards simplicity.

1. to keep the style similar to the original board
2. to keep the response time fast for those with slow internet connections

I a probably keeping smileys, because they can communicate sentiment pretty effectively, thus at time negating the sharp effect of the written word and prevent, at least to some extend, unnecessary argument.

My apology to those who despice the ol' Smiley!

I'm not too bothered about avatars, but I agree that the ability to use smilies should be kept. It's all too easy to misread the tone of a post, smilies can help by showing that a comment is meant in a lighthearted vein, rather than it coming across otherwise.

Geoff.
