Losses of The 8th and 9th Air Force

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone on this forum has a copy of "Losses of the 8th and 9th Air Forces - Volume I 1942-1943" by John A Hey and Stan Bishop. I am particularly interested on the pages concerning a B-17 from the 306th BG, 423rd BS (although the crew was from the 368th BS) that was shot down near Waddewarden and Canarienhausen Germany, returning from bombing Wilhelmshaven on May 21, 1943. If anyone has the book, please contact me as I would very much like copies of the pages dealing with this aircraft.

Thank you,
Art Castle

John - it was through this very site that I found out about the Bishop/Hey Losses books. I have never seen them advertised anywhere else. It took some doing, and a good bit of money, but I managed to acquire vols. I and II. I hope to get III - I also did not see a link to the book via the above site.

FYI - here are a couple of search results for the ones available now elsewhere:

All
You will not find a copy of Vol 3 easy... I spoke to Stan Bishop and he says most distributors wanted to much of a cut (even his brother Cliffs' own shop!)
You have to order direct from Stan Bishop or try Lashenden Air Warfare as suggested by Trevor (though I would email Trevor as I found out today shop not always manned during week)

Anyway if you want Stan Bishops contact details (telephone number) please PM me or email me on paulDOTmcmillanATemail4uDOTcom
It will be £67.00 including postage within the UK and it is over 700 pages long! Each copy is £59.95

I have his permission to pass on details
Paul

The museum website has now been updated www.lashendenairwarfaremuseum.co.uk & click on the museum shop heading

Having received my copy on Xmas eve (thanks Santa, or should I say Stan) I would like to say that it is up to standards on other 2 volumes. Covers 8th and 9th Air Forces losses for April 1944 to June 1944 and amendments to previous volumes. For the record the ISBN is 978-0-9547685-3-9

Roll on Volume 4.....

Thanks to Trevor for his prompt replies to my emails. We're back now from the Christmas holidays and I just placed my order via PayPal.

An aside for those like me who do a lot of online purchasing: I just happened to notice on *my* email copy of the PayPal receipt that my US state and zip code were omitted from my shipping address!! First time that's happened. Just checked my settings and all seems OK there. Anyway, a heads up to all - and I sent Trevor a further email with my complete addy. :D
