2 crewmembers were identified, 1 remains unidentified. And, of course, info on the plane would be welcome. Aircraft was found near former working village No5, Leningrad area. Finally crew was burried.

Re: He-111 crew

The answer from Germany stated that it was He-111? And remaining part of the plane is so small, that no id is possible... Hmm... Was it an art-correctioning plane or a night fighter? Any possibility of identifying at least the plane type of victor?

Re: He-111 crew

There also is an opinion that the plane was e-3, rather than h-3...

Re: He-111 crew

Salut!

4.(H)/33 flew also artillery correction flights in addition to normal reconnaissance duties. Based at Siverskaja from May 42 to late 43 and possibly was still there early 1944 too (at least one flight recorded over Gulf of Finland then). January 1943 the unit had 1 Me 110 C-5, 6 Me 110 E-3 and 3 Me 110 F-3 in the start of the month. They lost 2 E-3 and one F-3 "Durch Feindeinwirkung" plus one E-3 "Ohne" during the month (http://www.ww2.dk/oob/bestand/aufkl/b4ag33.html ).

In Norbert Hannig's (JG 54) book "Luftwaffe Ace Fighter" there is one story where they cover an artillery correcting Me 110 near Leningrad - most probably it was a 4.(H)/33 machine.

Re: He-111 crew

I just quoted what is written in reports, Kari are right there are 4 losses reported
/Ladogasee/XBF110F-3Trop5040H8+FM/Schlüsselburg sudost,/A FJBF110H-3227H8+BMKrasnogwardeisk FP N FFLBF110E-32360Olckowka ost,XBF110E-32471

So our bird is a E-3, for Wn just possible 2227 or 227X But all these ones ar C-5...
