Luftwaffe bases in France

Can anyone assist me?

I have recently purchased a small house in Ronssoy which is about 20 km north east of Saint Quentin in Northern France.

Between us and the village of Bellicourt there appears to be the remains of an airfield control tower made of concrete.

I assume this is the remains of a german field from the 2nd World War.

Can anyone out there give me any further information please.

Thanks

Barry

Hello!

I know of no Luftwaffe base around Ronssoy/Bellicourt, not even ALG type (which would not have such a building anyway). The closest air base was Peronne 15 km in SW Ronssoy. A photo would help!

Perhaps a local historical society can help you further on this, but so far the only reference I found was that Bellicourt was home to a Feldflieger Abteilung from October 1916 till March 1917.
But the remnants of a concrete control tower seem to indicate another period....

Finally got back about this.

Here is a photograph of the derelict building in France taken last weekend.

I have now managed to obtain this other photo of RAF Broadwell's Control Tower, so I'm now thinking this may have been an Allied field late 1944/45!

For information the location is
Longitude 3.202457
Latitude 49.962318
Altitude 350feet

Any thoughts?

Hello!

I believe it is an abandoned farm building of the "ferme de Cologne", because there was nothing WWII related around. The best way would be to ask directly to the farm inhabitants....they certainly will know what is this building...
