Whats the law on....

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and discovered it whilst doing some research. I am glad I did as I have just spent the last 3 hours reading some very interesting and informative articles.....

I would like to ask a question though and hope someone can help me. I would like to know a rough outline of the laws regarding the excavation of RAF aircraft that were shot down and crashed over/on French siol during the second world war. I know it is a bit of a big ask, but if anyone has any docs or links that I would find useful that would be great. The sort of thing I need to know is who owns the aircraft now as they lie in the ground, who would own them if they were dug up and the same for aircrew remains/belongings etc if any were found.

Any help you can give would be fantastic.

Re: Easy ... !

Hello,

Easy, it's forbidden ... (In France ...) See law from 1941 about looking for anything intersting history ... For any search concerning archeology or history, you need to ask authorization to DRAC (Direction Régionale des Affaires Culturelle ...). Most of the time, they say "no" for individual ... But if you are member from an association, working with a museum ... That's sometimes possible.
If there is any suspicion that bodies of the crew always there, this is a grave and you couldn't dig (violation de sépulture).
If there are munitions , you need to ask Sécurité Civile to be there ...
You need to have authorization from the owner of the field ...
Well, you understand, taht's not easy ... If you need more informations, please feel free to send a private mail. I'm member from an association and we have done several searches with authorizations (Spitfire, Me 109, P47, B24 ...)
