5/KG1 He111 loss 18 june 1940
Hello,
According to Victor Bingham in " Blitzed ! ", 5/KG1 would have lost a Heinkel He111 on the 18th of june 1940. As neither No 73, 242 and 17 squadrons nor Armée de l 'air fighters made any claim on this date. If this bomber has actualy been shot down by a fighter before 12h00, it could have been the victim of No 1 Squadron P/O Matthews. Many thanks. Bernard. |

According to the Gen.Qu.6.Abt. reports an 111H-2 was lost at Cherbourg. Not much else in the way of details with the early Gen.Qu. reports.

NVM says "Ueber See nord. Cherbourg". I have 6 names but it would possibly indicate 2 ac as one guy died at Essen
