Chris,
According to Irish DRS Bornefeld's body was washed ashore at Bunbeg Co. Donegal on 14 February 1942 and buried there. His remains were later transferred to the German War Cemetery at Glencree near Dublin. I was of the opinion that the FW200 F8+MH 0093 was lost on the early morning of the 1st February 1942 and Bornefeld's date in the German War Graves Commission list states the 1st as does his grave marker in Glencree. Does anyone have the names of the rest of the crew?

F8+MH was reported lost 31 Jan 42 so that could be overnight 31-1 Feb 42; what do you have on the claim from the Genistra? Rest of the crew was Fw Rolf Wenkhaus, Fw Walter Gasser, Uffz Willi Rosier, Ofw Walter Schlosser, Gefr Wolfgang Klocke all missing

Thanks for crew details, sorry I do not have anything on Genistra. Irish sources did state that a convoy including a troopship (US) passed into Lough Foyle and later proceeded into Derry. This is a likely connection.
