Spitfire EN-837

07/10/1944 Spitfire EN-837 63 Sqdn made a crashlanding near Blankenberge Belgium after being hit by Flak over Vlissingen Holland. Who was de pilot of this aircraft ?

Re: Spitfire EN-837

Alain,

Blankenberge sounds temptful because of proximity to Vlissingen. Can't remember where, but I (also) picked up that it may have been "Blankenberg" which seems to be have been a small temporary allied airfield more in the east of Belgium...

Perhaps other forum readers may have more info about this.

Groet,

Leendert

Leendert ,

The airfield you mentioned was Blakenberg B-66 ( als ik mij niet vergis in de buurt van Diest , check eens Runways to Victory van Peter Celis )

Re: Spitfire EN-837

Alain,

That's the one: Blakenberg.

In what I found for EN837 it says "Blankenberg" which could be Blankenberge or a typo for Blakenberg...

I'm aware this of course this doesn't anwser the pilot question.

Leendert
