FLUCHTLINGS AUSWEIS
 
Hi Can anyone tell me what this is and what it would be used for.

It means refugee's or deserter's pass. It might be one of the "safe conduct" propaganda leaflets that each side used to drop in the hope that enemy troops would defect to them.

It depends how your refugee´s pass looks like. In the post-45 era this was an important paper (several pages with photo) for the thousands of german refugees having fled to the western occupation zones to get accomodation, food and any kind of assistance. There are several categories - for instance "A" written on the front page. if it´s only a leaflet it might be the kind of paper Nick Beale is describing.

The correct spelling is "FLÜCHTLINGSAUSWEIS"

Hello Roland many thanks for the information, it is the booklet form, but has no photo inside, it just has a box for the fingerprint of the person,and the personal details of the person. He registered on the 31.7.45. and it goes through to1949. A very interesting booklet.
