Re: Lt Modzeleski
2Lt. Theodore Modzeleski, O-676654, 430FS/474FG, was shot down 17 Dec 44 in a dogfight with Fw-190A-8s of an unknown unit. They may have been from I./JG26, IV.JG3, or III./JG54. I am still researching this Modzeleski was shot down in P-38J-10-LO, serial number 42-68089. His MACR is 10974. His P-38 went down in the area of Spangdahlem, Germany (map coordinates L-2370). He was captured and taken POW. He was sent to Stalag XIIa. Hope this helps.

Re: Lt Modzeleski
It look like that JG 11 has the dogfight with 474FG. JG 11 lost 3 planes in the same aera. The crashplace from Ltn. Modzeleski is possible on the aera of the USAF-Airbase Spangdahlem.

Re: Lt Modzeleski
Alain !
2nd Lt. Teddy Modzeleski was shot down by German fighter-planes on 17 December 1944 at about 14:40 hrs (according the MACR) about 2 km East of Spangdahlem, Germany. The exact crash-location is given by an eyewhitness just near the present security-fence between the USAFE-base and the village of Binsfeld. This is confirmed by the German LGK-report # J-2748, which gives his correct Name, his correct AAF-s/n, the downing-location, but as downing-time 15:10 hrs. Hanshaubrich is right, when he identifies the German counnterpart as JG 11 in this case. Alain, no single trace indicates this aircraft and pilot, have come down in Belgium. Hope this helps, Horst Weber |
