French Seaplane loss.

Gentlemen: On May 24,1940 a French Aeronavale Latecoere 298, on a courrier flight in the Gravelines/Dunkirk area, encountered, and was S/D into the sea by a Bf-110.Time was approx. 1115hrs(1215hrs GT?)Pilot was Maitre Lacheny. I am trying to find the I/D of the unit to which the A/C belonged. Also if anyone has Info. on which Zerstorer unit may have been operating in the area. Thank you. Dean Wick.

Re: French Seaplane loss.

The French unit was Escadrille 1S1 and the Laté was on a liaison mission between Cherbourg and Dunkirk to deliver mail to the besieged garrison.

Hi Dean,

this was Latecore No.78 from the 1S1. I have its two crew members:
Pilot ME Lacheny and Radio ME Goret. Shot down probably by the 4/ZG1.

Regards

Robert
