Hi Franklin

As of 8 April 1944, III./JG 54 operated under the control of 1. Jagddivision, I. Jagdkorps, Luftflotte Reich. III./JG 54 was equipped mainly with Bf 109 G-6 fighters although one or two Bf 109 G-5 fighters were also on strength under the command of Major Werner Schroer (114 victories, RK-S) based at Lüneburg. Shortly afterwards, the unit was pulled out of front line service to be re-equipped with the Fw 190 A-8. I hope this helps.
