Fw 190's tranfer to Norway May 5, 1945
 

I'm trying to bring up as many facts as possible about three forced landings in southern Norway close to the Swedish border, just three days before the war ended.
Need additional help with unit, names and serial numbers etc.

Two of the Fw's landed successfully on a field. The pilots were from Estonia, Oblt.Edgar Martensohn flew "Yellow 7". Lt.Jahn Sepa "red 3"
A picture shows parts of the serial number (WNr.xx5525)

The third Fw 190 landed on another field 10 km further north.
Have very little info about this one. Lt.Kurt xx took off from Sylt(Denmark) together with seven other aircrafts. Pilot was 23 years old, born in a large city in Northern Germany!

In total 114 German aircrafts managed to transfer to Norway on the morning of May 5, 1945

I don’t know of the relevance of this, but my Fw 190 database file lists AGO-built A-8 739525, 2+, crash landed near Rodnessjoen, Norway? on 05-05-45.

I can confirm the two Fw's landed on a field in the vicinity of Lake Rødnessjøen.

Hi.

Martenson and Sepa landed in a field close to the farm Østre Krok, and the third aircraft behind the barn at the farm Søndre Soprim.

I have the name of the third pilot in my notes somewhere, the aircraft where all brought to Rygge and destroyed there along with the Bf 109s from 16./JG 5 (or really known as the new 6./JG 5 at this time) as far as I know.

We have tried to establish from which unit the aircraft came, but this has proven quite difficult, as the tale about how these aircraft ended up in Norway was more or less a question of the pilots picking the aircraft in best shape to make the flight from the aircraft available on the airfield they took off from.

As far as I have been told, Martenson and Sepa were in Germany on a FW 190 conversion course when they joined the flight northwards.

I will try to locate the info I have on the pilot that led the formation, from my recollection he was from JG 3, and had a few of his unit comrades with him in addition to what I do believe he described as 'Zwei Esten oder Letten'.

I do not know if Jochen Prien has anything in his JG 3 books on this matter?

Found some related information in Aeroplane July 2005.

Thirteen Fw 190's of II./JG 26 took off from Husum, heading for Lista(Lister). Only six Fw 190D-9's and a few Fw 190 A-8 landed at Lister. The rest diverted to Aalborg-West.

At least twenty Fw 190's of I. and III./JG11 took off from Leck, heading for Kristiansand. They were due to refuel at Vejle or Aalborg-West. Only one "swarm" of I./JG11 reached Kristiansand, the rest returned to Denmark.
The Fw's that ended up at Soprim/Østre Krok, might me of JG 11, destination Kristiansand (just a guess..)
