Lost to Sudek13

1 Attachment(s)
I very seldom find something interesting on ebay but the other day i did.

It was some photoes from Denmark, but unfortunately Sudek13 also had interess in this objekt, so i lost, but fortunately the copy placed on ebay was of a good quality so i have a copy.

But when loosing I am glad it was to sudek13 , he rules, would like to see that collection, would take days.

As earlier said Sudek13 is present i this forum, so if he should not know, this photo is taken at Kastrup, Denmark sometime during 1944, plane attaced to BFS 4.

To show here is a Ju 88A-12 from BFS 4, from my collection.

Best regards
Jes Touvdal

Well that's the first charitable post I have seen about sudek13 on any forum anywhere ever!

I find it hard that you should be so glad that he won the item you were after, unless of course sudek13 has personally revealed to you a desire for some future photographic philanthropic enterprise. The guy must have endless supplies of cash and time and has sent prices steeply climbing on whatever auction he frequents. Good news for the sellers, VERY bad news for buyers and smalltime collectors like me. :(

BTW VERY nice picture!!

Hi,

An elderly neighbour of my mother's, unaware of my interests, was about to throw some LW aircraft photos and a small collection of insignia in the bin until her son (not interested in anything military whatsoever) checked on eBay to see if people were selling similar items. Lo and behold, he found and watched various items and found that Sudek, ahead of others, paid decent money for similar, and thus the photos and insignia were saved - but were unfortunately sold before I could declare an interest and get my sticky mitts on them.

So, not all is bad news!

David

sudek pays only 1EURO more then the second bidder!

\"sudek pays only 1EURO more then the second bidder!\"Very weak argument: the problem is not that Sudek pays only one Euro more than the second bidder, the problem is that he can always do that. His employees have just to use Gixen or a similar service and put 500 Euros for every picture he wants and it\'s done. Average authors or small publishing houses simply can\'t follow.

\"BTW VERY nice picture!!\" Yep, very nice picture. By the way, why Sudek couldn\'t share some of his pics this way?

Boring, boring. This subject has been done to death in the past, and doesn't bear repeating again. Least of all by you, who simply does not like the fact that in a free society, in an auction situation, the person prepared to bid the highest, wins the prize. End of.

And before you jump all over me again, sudek does not always win every auction they enter. And sudek does not enter every auction, either. You see, with the greatest of respect to those who bid on his behalf, I suspect that sometimes they do not know what is in front of them, and decide a photo is not worth bidding on, when it is actually a rare bird/scenario. With regard to 110s, anyway.

Re: Lost to Sudek13

Hello to all. I do not frequent e-bay, but have seen some very nice photographs appearing here from time to time. Well, I still do knot know the "famous" Sudek13, just hope that he can be an interesting guy who will try to put these photos on a book ( or will use the photos for any kind of Historical work ) and will share this way a bit with us.
I do have a book from Mr John Vasco ( whose work I trully admire ) and if my memory do not plays tricks on me, he says he started writing to former LW airmen and collecting information. Well, he is now a very respected writer and has shared with his customers ( those who read his books ) his work ( fruit of years of researches, etc...). Just hope Sudek13 is a guy like John ( just to name one respected writer ). When one writes, we wants to share his knowledge with others and make sure that more funs like us we will have access to the information he has ( of course it is not freely...) but it is mervellous when we can buy a book of Mr. Theo Boithen, Chris Goss, John Vasco ( again just writing some names...), etc.
Yours ( friendly )
Adriano

PS: I am just expressing my personal opinion and am happy that a guy who can afford his money on the same interest as I do have is not expending his money with a Louis Vouiton bag ( to his wife ) or something like that....

Sudek13 will you put your comments for us?

Have I been outbid? Yes. Do I like it. No. Oh well, I get over it (fast) and move on. As John says, not everyone sees everything in the same way. That’s part of the joy. There are gems to discover. And along with the outbids, I’ve gotten a few gems (to me at least). Fact is, if it wasn’t for eBay I would never even have seen most of these things—period—let alone be able to bid and maybe win, or at least save a digital image. Keep looking, keep bidding, and I’ll bet you’ll get some goodies. Good luck . . .

Re: Lost to Sudek13

Stephen,

You are quite right. A few gems? Oh yes, in the 'In Detail' book on the 110 'C' to 'E' that will surface next year (with some stunning artwork by Fernando Estanislau) there are a few gems. I'm not going to give anything away now, but they include one great shot that sudek didn't win, and a few others that slipped by his bidders that were a bit special. Sometimes, it's all down to what you know and what you see. But they'll all be out there for everyone to see next year. Even Captain Nemo (and if you know your late '60s music, that's a great song by Moby Grape, so there!).
