Old request I know, but just recently I found this:
Here is official report about crash, pilot Cpt. Micheal Brezas was reported as MIA: http://www.footnote.com/image/41944796/25786|44/#41944759 Here is picture of Brezas: http://www.p38assn.org/images/personnel/ace_brezas.jpg And small page about his achievements: http://www.neta.com/~1stbooks/def1c.htm This larger picture was published in book "P-38 Aces of ETO/MTO" : http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m...sil/Brezas.jpg Brezas later said that the Soviet forces were very unfriendly. I do not know if those were real Soviet forces or Yugoslav partisans. He was first transported to Belgrade, and then back to Italy. Here is a link to page that tells us story what happened later to the aircraft: http://www.yumodel.co.yu/history_of_..._ligthning.htm Regards ! |
