316 Sqn pilots

Hi

I am trying to find a bit more on these pilots.

W/C Witozenc
Sgt Murkowski
F/O F Wiza
F/Lt Sobelowski
F/O Zurakowski
P/O Karnkowski
F/Ll Kudrowicz
Sgt Bielicki
F/O Litak
W/C Rolski
S/L Rutkowski
F/S Tamowicz
F/O Zolcinski
F/L Lanowski
Sgt Sowinski
F/Sgt Ziendalski

These were all pilots with 316Sqn in mid 1943. I am seeing if they are the correct spellings, are there any aces and whether any are still alive.

Are there any books on 316Sqn?

Have a bit from the web but not much.

W/C Witozenc

1099 WIZA Franciszek
P0380 SOBOLEWSKI Jozef, P/O, (0-0-1)

W/ C Tadeusz Rolski (died 1991)

Aces were Witorzeńć and Rutkowski, and as far as I know only Karnkowski is still alive, but I am not sure of three men.

Not in English, but I would recommend Cynk's PAF at war official history.

W/C Witozenc
Proper spelling Stefan Witorzeńc, in the BoB in 501 Sqn.

F/O J Zurakowski
Nope, he is not Zura, who was A/S/L at the time I believe, but Tadeusz Żurakowski P-1883.

F/L B Kudrowicz
Bruno Kudrewicz

Indeed, Witold Lanny Łanowski.

S/L Rutkowski
Kazimierz Rutkowski
I cannot check index of the PAF airmen at the moment, I will add some details within few days.

Re: 316 Sqn pilots

Mark, your sequence is wrong. Bielicki was the first one to fly BR601 in 316. Also, Lanowski, Sowinski and Ziendalski were not pilots of 316, just guests. Can you confirm that the Spit changed ownership recently?
