P-47 42-28402

Hello ,

P-47 42-28402 from 406 FG was lost on december 24th 1944.The MACR was 11425. Who flew this aircraft and were did it came down ?

The aircraft was hit at about 10:00 hrs straffing gun-positions near
P-6173. The pilot, 1st Lt. Arthur B. Sheldon Jr., 0-811967, 514th FS went in with his plane after a flak-hit at the position, he attacked. He was KIA.
Source: OPREP A NO. D24B (2nd of 5 missions) for 24 hours ending sunset 24 December 1944. Mission No. 294. IX Fighter Command Operations Order No. RFL-1.
