Ofw Strohheim

Can anybody tell me the first name of Ofw Strohheim of 2./NJG 1, and perhaps his ultimate fate during the war?
Thanks in advance,
Ivo de Jong

Hello Ivo,

When it comes to I./NJG 1 pilots, I am always allerted: I presume that you mean Ofw. Josef Ströhlein, 2./NJG 1 ? That pilot fell in action 5th January 1945, buried at Wesendorf Cemetary, Germany

All the best, Marcel Hogenhuis / Venlo

Hello Marcel,
Thanks for your reaction.
If he is the pilot who claimed a B-17 in the night of 5/65 July 1944 near Rotterdam, he is the one that I am looking for!
Please confirm,
Thanks
Ivo

Re: Ofw Strohheim

Hello Ivo,

He is the one, Ronald Vernes of the SGLO has made a profound study of this claim, Ströhleins involvement etc. Recently I was able to give him (and Frans Auwerda) the long wanted but so far unknown Werkenummer of Ströhleins He219 that crashed near Hoeven.

I haven't had the time to apply for the SGLO membership again but will do this a.s.a.p. as announced to Jaap some weeks ago.

Best wishes, Marcel

Hello Marcel,
That is two times good news!
Up to now Strohlein was missing from the 'loss list' for the Netherlands, that is due to be published shortly.
And I am happy to see you back on board with the Air War Study Group. Our next meeting will be on March 29 in Amsterdam,
Hope to see you there,
Ivo

Hello gentlemen ,

Could it be that Ofw Ströhlein also the man was who shot down Halifax HX-326 N° 10 squadron on april 27th 1944 near St-Trond Belgium ?

Greetings
Alain
