A Tapa RW station raid claims
On 26/07/44 an air raid on Tapa (Estonia) RWStation was made, which resulted in heavy losses by VVS. Can anyone help me with the claims for that area by LW pilots? I expect 9 Pe-2, at least 1 fighter (Yak?), and one Il-2...

Re: A Tapa RW station raid claims
You may want to check out Tony Wood's website on http://www.lesbutler.ip3.co.uk/tony/tonywood.htm
and go to bottom of page: Eastern Front Vol.4, 1944 Jul-Dec for Luftwaffe claims on 26-7-1944. It seems even more than 9 Pe-9s were claimed, but some may have been in other areas. Regards, Leendert |

Tapa coordinates are 59°16' N 25°58' E’ and they translate to Luftwaffe grid 26 Ost 50 6 (99). See also the attached map. I assume you are familiar with the subdivision of the grids. I looked the 26.7.1944 claims. All claims by II/JG 54 (Stab, 4. & 5. Staffel) fit to return route (grids 60 and 70) from Tapa towards East. Claims include 13 Pe-2, 2 Yak-9 and 7 Il-2. Regards, Kari |

I take RW as railway. Tapa is important railway junction in Estonian system, especially for transportation towards Narva. Kari |
