Hello to all

Who was the pilot of the Spitfire PR IV R7038 1st PRU loss the 16/9/1942 over northern germany ? What happened to him?

Re: Spitfire PRIV R7038 1st PRU 16 September 1942

Phil,

It seems that R7038 was one of the dozen or so Spitfires that could be captured by the Luftwaffe after these aircraft had made a forced landing in occupied territory. Apparently used in a special test group called "Zirkus Rosarius". Perhaps the LW-forum knows more about this?

It is therefore possible that the pilot of R7038 was made POW, assuming the aircraft still fairly was in one piece.

Sorry, I have no name.

Regards,

Leendert

According to the ORB R7038 was flown by P/O Barraclough on its last sortie.
