Me 262 Walter Schuck victory on 07.April 45

After newest informations from Manfred Boehme, author of JG 7 book, Walter Schuck shot down a Mustang P-51D, ident No. 44-15346 flown by Gilbert M. Plownan on the 7th of April 1945 around 12.15 pm.

Any comments?
Best regards, Horst

Its somewhat confusing. The 355th FG (Angels,Bulldogs and Dragons) history says the following:"Mills and Plowman disappeared while penetrating cloud cover on the way home and were never heard from again."

However, the MACR 13958 for Lt. Plowman says the following:"I was flying Falcon Green #3 in Lt. Mill's flight the 7th of April,1945. We were flying escort to B-24s at about 25,000 feet. Jets were reported in the area when we were SE of Bremen and although our flight made several orbits we found nothing. Approxmately 1215 we headed up along the right side of the bomber track when a Me 109 flew through our flight. My wingman and I took off after him and to the best of our knowledge, Lt. Mills and his wingman flew on along with the bombers. There were many E/A in the area SE of the bombers and as my wingman had a few encounters we did not rejoin Lt. Mills. After leaving him I never heard Lt. Mills and his wingman [Lt. Plowman] on the radio and it wa sthe last time we saw him."

Signed Paul W. Vineyard.

Several things to point out. Lt. Vineyard claimed a Me 109K in this engagement.Along with two Me-262s damaged, 2 Fw-190Ds were destroyed, 1 Bf-109 was destroyed and one Me-262 was shared as a kill by two pilots. Its quite possible that either Lt. Mills or his Lt. Plowman were indeed shot down by Lt. Schuck.
