Avro Lincoln in action in 1944
 

If the Lincoln had been in service for night bombing in 1944, would its loss rate have been any less than the Lancaster?

Would its 20mm cannons have enabled it to make unescorted daylight missions, or were they overrated?

"Village Inn" blind fire gun-laying radar was carried on some Lancasters. Did it achieve any successes? What was the max effective range of the Browning in a turret? And of the 20mm? I presume the Lincoln never fire in anger at aircraft, but only strafed Mau Maus, Malays and the Stern Gang.

The Lincoln's upper turret didn't look any different from the Lancaster's. The recoil from two Hispano's is considerable. Not having been used in anger (Lancaster mid-upper's were also rarely used?), was the turret and it's mechanism up to long term firing? (cf the post-war auto 5.25" on Vanguard, believed not to have been up to real combat use).
