Bf109 details
Greetings all,
there is few details of interest on this image. First shape of the spinner is with no doubt strait. Second- flap door which have to be on down position is closed. Any technical explanation for this details? http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y35...09-details.jpg One note- I have download this image from somewhere but to regret did not copy the addres and owner. In this way I have place copyright label. If any of you recognize this image please let me know to place credit or remove it. |
Re: Bf109 details
So called straight shape is the cutout for the prop blade.

Re: Bf109 details
Very long cut out in this way ;)

Re: Bf109 details
Jim is correct, you can see it clearly on the bottom blade, it's a fairly standard prop spinner.

Re: Bf109 details
The outer gear door is close by the main gear tire as it retracts, there are 2 locks that hold the door closed, cables release the locks as the gear starts to extend. As a result you can manually push the door closed on the ground till the locks engage and hold it closed.

Re: Bf109 details
Yes, the straight look on the spinner is only an optical illusion caused by the prop cutout :)
Oh, do not worry about copyright. this photo is Free Domain. Mike |
Re: Bf109 details
Thats why ask here. I have a bulk of images and several in this angle of view and only on this one I notice this shape. I know for the slot but could not imagine that it could not apear as curved upper line. Jim P. pointed that very precisely and I am sure corectly.
Good to know about the copyright- thank you :) |
