Normandie-Niemen IAP
Hi,
Would anybody know the name and rank of the pilot of this a/c, of Normandie-Niemen Groupe, in March of 1945? Cheers, Franklinhttp://gr.fipu.krasnoyarsk.edu///cam...8/pics/1_9.jpg |
Re: Normandie-Niemen IAP
Interpretation of Yak-3 colours are completely wrong: it must be dark grey/grey scheme and the Lorraine cross appeared on the tail only after the war's end. In March 1945 the Star must be there.

Re: Normandie-Niemen IAP
Hello.
I will publish at the end of this month an article about the return to France of thi unit, in Airmagazine n°26. Your profile is wrong for 3/4 things 1- the camouflage on upperside is AMT-11, grey-blue and AMT-12 dark greyand the undersurfaceis olmost ok and it is AMT-7 blue. 2- The cross of Lorraine on the rudder was introduced th 10th june 45 at Elbing few days before the departure for France, it was paint always in white but for this white 3 it was outlined of red. 3- behind the cockpit there were 5 or 6 white little crosses, the score of the pilot, the name of this pilot is sous-Lieutenant pierre dechanet. if you want to know the serial n° of this yak is 292.5429, the n° of the engine 432.260 and take in charge by the unit the 17 oct 44. his last flight the 30 june 47. Best regards |

Many,
most interesting information! may I ask what is the source(s)? the reason I ask it that I would like to do an article about VVS serial numbers and thier locations on the aircraft for publication on the web. I would also be interested in this information for other VVS planes in the war. P.F. |
