JG 54 Info.

Hello,
Newbe here with a rekindled interest in the Luftwaffe. I know this may be a long shot, but I was hoping that one of the resident JG54 experts could help me out here. I'm looking for anything related to Lt. Hermann Leiste of 4/JG 54. He also flew with 7/JG 54. A picture of the pilot or his plane would be incredible. Thanks to this forum I was directed to a place where I discovered his list and dates of victories. I'm looking for anything above and beyond that. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
J.D.

Re: JG 54 Info.

Also forgot, what would be the best book to purchase on JG 54 that in pariticular covers the time frame from the beginning of 1941 to the end of 1942?
Thanks again!

Hermann Leiste

Hello JD

I have regarding his loss list information:

11 April 1941: Oberfähnrich Hermann Leiste of 7./JG 54 suffered landing accident in Bf 109 E-4 at Fünfkirchen
8 June 1942: Leutnant Hermann Leiste of 4./JG 54 listed as missing in Bf 109 F-4/R1 "White 7" (W.Nr. 13 131) due to Flak 10 kilometers north of Krestzy at 15:15

My information is that he was credited with 29 victories on the Eastern Front and awarded the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold on 27 July 1942. I hope that this helps out somewhat.

Horrido!

Leo
