Re: namelists

Chris,

The last couple of months you've started 8 separate threads asking the same question or variations of that same question. Perhaps you should try and narrow your scope or at least have more patience. Also, you can always bump your original thread, instead of starting a new one.

Things can take time and sometimes we do not get the answers we were hoping for.

Well said Ruy!

Chris,

I might add that loss listings are something which are frequently requested and information many of us are interested in or need. Perhaps if you offer up some of the information you have been compiling, others might be more likely to do a little extra leg work for you.

Kind regards

Jeremy

Chris:

I assume you mean the VLM loss lists for the type of units you mention?

Perhaps you do not realize the scope of what you are asking? There are thousands upon thousands of such listings. Many people of this board have worked for many, many years, even decades compiling such lists from hand written fiche or microfilms, log books or unit books into some format like Access or Excel. They are not very likely to just “give” you the results of such efforts.

To my knowledge there are no such lists on the Internet with the exception of some on Andreas Brekken’s web site. He frequents this board so I’ll let him answer you.

If you wish to know about 1 or a a couple of individual listings, then someone will likely help you, but not thousands.

Re: namelists

Well said John,

I myself have been working on the loss lists that are available from the archives for the last 5 years. Just the ones available from the Bundesarchiv, excluding 1944, amout to 18,000 pages on microfiche or film. It takes appoximately 1 hour to transcribe one page from the fiche into another format, if it is a good quality copy. Just as an example the losses for May 1940 in 8 pt size is a 65 page document. One source for the list is the Lufwaffe Verband. My resarch is published there by Barry Rosch with every issue. I did not mean to beat my own drum, but you are absolutely right, sometimes one does not know what they are asking for.

Regards,

Norbert
