Would that be the one lost with Sussman and Jones? I don't have a serial number but this makes for interesting reading:

Quote:

While on an intruder mission, Capt. Jones and Lt. Sussman were fired upon by a B-17. Jones told the controller that he had received fire which shot out one engine, tail surfaces and wounded Lt. Sussman. The pilot tried to bring the A/C to an emergency field because Lt. Sussman couldn't bail out. Capt. Jones' last words to the controller before he and and his observer spun in were "I guess we've had it."

I somehow have RM 921 jotted down for the Beaufighter, but forgot about source.

Capt. Varillus O. Jones and 2 Lt. Mervin H. Sussman.

RM921 was a Spitfire

Amrit,

Prefix may be wrong, but the "921" part seems to be right. I believe it fell in the "MM" range then, but have no books to check.

Alas, no equivalent of Joe Baugher website for RAF serials, as far as I know...

Regards,

Leendert

Hello and Thank you Both,

Yes that is the event.

All that I have for MM921 is that it went to the USAAF and was SOC on 30th April 1945.

Thanks
Alex
