FI.St.Ing. in KG 40 He177's

In operations on 26-11-43 FI.St.Ing's Erch Warnecke and Heinz Irmlar were both injured while flying as Bs in separate He 177 crashes. On 23-1-44 Heinz Irmlar was reported missing while flying in the crew of Hpt. Kobrink against the Anzio Beachhead. Were these men Heinkel Engineers attatched as Sonderfhr. or regular Luftwaffe Engineers. I assume their role was to help with sorting out Technical problems with the He 177,

The "Fliegeringenuerkorps der Luftwaffe" was an part of them with own Rankgroups and insignias and have nothing to do with the Sonderführer-Laufbahn.
Fliegerstabsingenuer is similar to an Hauptmann.
The specialists from Heinkel, Focke-Wulf, etc. where civil employments.
