SKG10/10.JG2

I hv a Fl.stab Ing. named Läpple ernst, who shored in 12 july 1943 , near Shoreham, It seems to hv stayed for 1/1.5 month in the water, at that time he could hv been involved with 10.JG2 to test a guidance system for Jabo, who knows more ???

Hello Rémi,

In his excellent book, Chris Goss shows him flying Fw190A-5 (1106) Blue 11 of 10./JG2 shot down by F/Sgt Wallace Tyerman of No.486 Squadron, 4 miles off Bognor Regis at 12.15 hours on March 1, 1943.

Many thks Peter, it miss me the first letter of the name nd so impossible to find it out, it seems that these tests didn't gave so good results, when we see how many Jabo that landed "safely" in the wrong airplace, Manston very busy at one time

Re: SKG10/10.JG2

What he was doing is not known-he was a technical engineer and flying by himself that day. Guidance system? No-they had no such thing nor could they use such things flying at zero feet and 310 IAS!

Re: SKG10/10.JG2

He is supposed to hv been posted to 10.JG2 from 7. febr., for testing a "Zielflug vorsatzgerät" so some kind of device to find their way to the target, maybe flying higher or...

Re: SKG10/10.JG2

EGON was not used by these daytime fighter-bombers-all they used was dead reckoning, skill and the Mk 1 Eyeball!

Re: SKG10/10.JG2

You are probably rught Egon is more some 1944 blend, in fact I thought to Egon, because in the reports of the mistaken-landings of mai nd june 43 in british airfields, one guy explained that to be directed just need to move some button on his FuG , base able to give him some indications about his position, a bit like Egon that "transpond" with the IFF, but at that time they don't hv the FuG25 installed, hv they ??
