Re: info about rumanians pilots

The apparent discrepancy of Lt. av. Micu's victories is due to the conflicting original sources, as well as the fact that not all of his 'kills' are known. Myself I could not locate the two seaplane victories (they were probably ground, or better said water victories) as well as his ground victories (the previously mentioned ones probably included).
His total in 1941 was nine victories: 5 conf'd and 1 unconf'd air victories, plus 3 ground victories (7 fighters and 2 seaplanes).
In addition to his 1941 achievements, he shot down a P-38 with the patrol (shared) and a four-engine US bomber in 1944.

DENES

thanks for your explication

well.I can see,it's very difficult to make a good idea of the true score.
if Lt.av.Micu has 5 confirmed in 1941,it's not the same thing that 9 or 11.
for me destruction on the ground cannot count for "luftsieges",if it was often more dangerous .

regards

FocusFocus, it's not up to what counts for you (or for me, for that matter), but what was official back then.
Officially, in ARR the destruction of an enemy aircraft in air or on the ground was considered a 'kill' (not necessarily a victory!). The number of victories awarded for the destruction of an enemy aircraft varied from 1 to 3, depending on how many engines the enemy aircraft had (1 victory for a single-engine, 2 victories for a two-engine and 3 victories for a three- or more-engine aircraft). Confirmed and unconfirmed 'kills' counted as victories, too.
Needless to say, this official rule complicates things even further...
