I/KG 30 1 Jan 40

I know I have asked this before but WASt has sent me the NVMs for KG 30 Oct 39-Apr 40 and this loss was missing (a number from Jan and Feb 40 were burnt). Pilot's or a crew members name was Kabitzke-any more names or a confirmation would be welcome

Dear Mr. Goss:

This is what I have:

From BA-MA ´Flugzeugunfalle und Verlústen bei der Verbanden am ......´ loss lists from ´reporting dates´ 03.09.1939 to 02.03.1940 [RL 2 III/184]

.... Ju 88 1./KG 30 (Luftflotte 2) OPS (F) missing (100%) reported as ´shot down by English aircraft in middle North Sea´ [two claimed by RAF Gladiator biplane fighters of the Sollum Voe Fighter Flight near Sullom Voe, one by RAF Hudson “NR-L” of 220 SQ in the middle of the North Sea or {q.v.} by RAF Hudson N7232 “NR-T” of 220 SQ at sea about 20 mls off St. Abbs Head] 01.01.1940 (Obgefr. Kasiske killed, three crew missing)(amendment in LWFLV losses j/18.02.42)

[Shores/co-authors: ´Fledgling Eageles´ P.152: it was one of six KG 30 Ju 88 machines on anti-shipping raid, two to the Shetlands but four to Scapa Flow; one was confirmed downed by Royal Navy. Two were clamed by the Gladiators and one by Hudson ´L´ but Hudson ´T´ being shot down attacking an ´He 111´... {see also Andrew Hendrie: ´Lockheed Hudson in World War Two´ P.23: it states one flown by F/Lt. Clarke along with another flown by P/O. Carey, sighting two He 111´s; one crashing in flames into the sea but the another Heinkel possibly also going down... but P.123 in same book it also lists: ´N7232 - 220 - Damaged by return fire from Ju 88, crashed in sea 20 m east of St. Abbs Head 1.1.40}. Losses don´t confirm any He 111 lost on this date so one thinks only the Hudson was downed and that the LWFLV loss report of the Ju 88 going down in Middle-North Sea is probably correct...]

Best regards ´Ed North´

Many thanks. Ed-I have all of this but thanks again; RT-where did you get the names from and was there a 4th crewman?
