Any ideas on this book?

Wonder if anyone might be able to help?

I interested in the following title with which I am not familiar - any ideas on content & style/recommendations? Any good?

‘Lauscher bei Florian: Unter den Generalfeldmarschällen von Manstein, Model und Schörner. Als Verbindungsoffizier zwischen Luftflotte und Panzereinheit 1943 – 1945’. Leoni, (Druffel Verlag 1993) by Gert Naumann

Many thanks,

Robert Forsyth

The book is a smallish hardcover, containing 190 pages and 12 pages of photos. Written mostly in dialogue form, it's a personal and informal account of the last two years on the Eastern Front, from the perspective of the German High Command.

While it doesn't contain many details (i.e., dates, locations or units), it does provide an intimate, command-level perspective on several important battles and events, incl. Kursk, Karkov, the July 20th assassination attempt, Krakow, and the retreat into Germany. The author describes many personal interactions with Field Marshals von Manstein, Model, and Schörner, and some of their meetings with Hitler and Göring.

I did a quick scan for Luftwaffe-related content, but didn't find much more than a few generic references to Stukagruppen actions.

The chapter titles are:
0. Vorwort (4 pp)
1. Führung der Heeresgruppe Süd durch Generalfeldmarschall von Manstein (74 pp)
2. Unternehmen "Zitadelle" (15 pp)
3. "Na, isser weg?" (33 pp)
4. Jetzt: "Heeresgruppe Nordukraine" unter Generalfeldmarschall Model (15 pp)
5. Intermezzo unter Generaloberst Harpe (23 pp)
6. Endphase unter Generalfeldmarschall Schörner (20 pp)

This book might appeal to those interested in the personalities and the workings of the OKH. You're likely to be disappointed if you're looking for specifics on Luftwaffe-Panzer coordination, or detailed Luftwaffe involvement.

Hope that helps,
Leon Venter.
