German translation help!

Hi, could any of our German speaking readers assist with this paragraph?

" Angriff auf Birmingham. Angriff abgebrochen , Ersatzziel Geleitzug, keine Wirkung"

Is it something on the lines of, " Target Birmingham, target aborted ??"

Any help gratefully accepted.

Hi,

attack against Birmingham. Attack aborted. Target of opportunity (or secondary target) vessel convoy, no effects.
