No, it was. It utilized Thule I system. Don´t you know??
But it needed V-1 launch device for take-off.
It improved later on with introducing Thule II system. But it required 100 octane fuel, which was difficult to get.
Therefore the late war Thule III was able to digest wood gas ... which however required rather complicated control during flight ... and often led to unwilling bail-outs

Interesting news guys, in RL 87/425b there is a document from LC III Beschaffungsmeldungen dated 19 October 1944 stating that 20 examples of the Volkswaffe Vw 389 "Käfer" B-0/U3/R1 was completed for JG.z.b.V 88. Reference is made to "Taktische Forderungen - Rüstungsflugzeug Volkswaffe II Volkssturm giving clear detail of the performance and equipment. The Baubeschreibung states that the paint scheme was RLM 64 Dunkelgrün and RLM 83 over RLM 78.

Gen.Qu. Einsatzbereitschaftsmeldungen reports that the unit became operative on 1 April 1945 and scored 26 kills on the first mission!

I believe this the first noted use of name "Käfer" in regard of Kdf. Do you know if it was officially approved name or just a code name of the project?
