B&V Ha139 help
 

Hi all,
I am after finding out the military registration of the three B&V Ha139Bs.
Looking here at the database:
http://www.luftwaffe-experten.org/d-letters.html
It shows the Civilian registraion numbers and that one (D-ASTA 'Nordstern') was P5+EH (which incidently is not listed in the 'P' section for military planes?
The others are not listed But I know one other had the registration of CB+AM.
Also I know they were involved in the Norwegian campaign but with what Squadron (this one?: E.Stelle Rechlin K.Gr.z.b.V.108)?
Any help appreciated.

At least two - 'Nordmeer' (V1) and 'Nordwind' (V2) - served with Sonderstaffel Transozean Staffel during late 1939 and into 1940. Most of their activities during this time were as test beds to resolve numerous difficulties in converting the type to a suitable military aircraft.

Hi all,
I wonder if anyone can comment on what I think I am seeing with the differences between V-1 , V-2 and V-3 of these planes with regard to their engines.
The civilian planes SEEM to have had different engines compared with Ha-139 V-3 (the minesweeper). In that looking at the photos the engine nacelles extend across the top surface of the wings to the flaps and underneath to the air-intakes. On the military V-3 the nacelles/housings only go about 1/4 to 1/3 the way across the wing!?? Or am I seeing things?? I have checked a LOT of photos including some German only publications.
any comments help appreciated.

Thanks Tony,
But I have that information.
By latest query was if there really was a diference between the V-1 and V-2 planes compared to the V-3 plane as far as the size and /or shape of their engine nacelles?

One or two of the BV 139's served with 9. Staffel of Kampfgeschwader z.b.V. 108 during the invasion of Norway in April 1940.

At the outbreak of war the BV 139B W.Nr. 217 D-ASTA "Nordstern" was at the DLH works in Travemünde for controls and conversion.
BV 139 W.Nr. 181 D-AMIE "Nordmeer" was in Las Palmas and BV 139 W.Nr. 182 D-AJEY "Nordwind" was in Natal in Brazil. Both aircraft were ordered to return to Germany as soon as possible.
On 09.09.39 the Sonderstaffel (Tr.O) was ordered formed with immediate effect in Travemünde. Its equipment was to be 2 Do 24, 4 Do 26 and 3 Ha 139.

The BV 139 W.Nr. 181 was reported as a flying testbed by Blohm & Voss
on 31.03.40 and 30 .09.40. This aircraft had 4 x Jumo 205C engines.

the Ha 139 V1 has been converted in the nacelle area and in the cooling system, see the attachment ...
