Missing Air Crew Reports

There's an abbreviation in these reports that I'm having a mental block over.

KIA, MIA etc. I get.
RTD I guess is "returned."
But what's "EUS" ?

Nick,

EUS = Evacuated to the US

Nick,

Just an addition: RTD = Returned to Duty.

Re: Missing Air Crew Reports

The most difficult abbreviation I found was n.m.l which eventually turned out to mean "no middle initial"
Just because someone has no middle name!

Re: Missing Air Crew Reports

Hello Frank:

The correct abbreviation is: nmi It was used, in my experience, to show the individual had no middle name. Back in WW 2, the majority of men had a middle name so this was an attempt to assist in identification. One man's name in our tent was Philip (nmi) Kidder as it appeared in official records.

Cordially, Art Fiedler

You will also find John Q (io) Doe, indicating "initial only". And even occasionally J Q (io) Doe.

Frank.
