Squadron Sizes of the USAAF

Hi Guys

does anybody know what the plane number sizes of the different types of USAAF squadrons were around 1941 and 1942 ?

did they increase later, or stay the same ?

my friend is looking for info on all unit types

Transports
Recon
Divebomber

anyothers I may of not thought of ?

if you know, great, if you know where we could find the info by sites, good too :)

Hi
As a starting point try and get a look at a book by Roger A Freeman, The Mighty Eighth War Manual, published in the late 80's by Arms and Armour Press and reprinted since. It covers most aspects of the 8th Air Force mode of Operation in the European Theatre from bases in England. He has written many books on the 8th Air Force but the Manual gives the "nuts and bolts" detail and should cover a lot of what you are looking for

Hi Sarge,

See attached chart. It is taken from The Official Guide to the Army Air Force published in 1944.

In 1943 Photo Recce Sqns had an establishment (TO&E) of 13 a/c, I don't know if this was increased later in the war.
