49th FG - P-40N Lt. J.B Paris

I'm researching the P-40 N flown by J.B. Paris (49th FG/ 7 th FS). I've located a couple of partial views of the emblem and the cockpit area in the McDowell Squadron title but didn't see anything in the Hess Osprey book...is the artwork that exists of this machine 'reliable'? Is there any more in the Schiffer history .."Protect & Avenge' ...

thanks

Paris Machine (Cockpit area is shown) on page 95 of Hess's book 49th Fighter Group. The photo is clear enough to see the pilots name, the claims markings and the name Rusty.

on Page 266 of Protect and Avenge there is a good picture of the Aircraft forward of the Cockpit, showing a very worn leading edge white marking, as well as the number & and the nose art..

Finally on page 35 of Carl Molesworth's "P-40 Warhawk aces of the Pacific" there is a nice colour profile, which I believe is quite accurate.

Hope this helps, let me know If you need anything further

In "Protect & Avenge," there's a photo of the left side of Sandy getting ready to take off, showing the plane back to the rear canopy area. Although the color profile in McDowell's book has about the same amount of detail, the photo shows a few differences: the numeral 7 has more "style" and is on the same level as the skull; the upper end of the scythe's handle is visible above the skull; the spinner stripe is somewhat thicker.
