Re: Negatives 5-28
These negatives seem to be photographs of photographs, it's as if the photographer was making a record of his photo collection. Some are in very good focus and others are not. Whoever the photographer and the original photo owner was it is an amazing eclectic mix of aircraft and manufacturers types. I conclude from this that the original photographer must have clear access to many sensitive locations both military and civil manufacturer and therefore must have had official sanction.
I wonder what happened to the original pictures? They appear to be in some kind of album and in some cases are mounted. Why were the negatives taken? To sell the originals? As a 'backup'? To make a catalogue of contents? Intriguing. |
Re: Negatives 5-28
Many were already published ,some as soon as the 50 ' !
For example the Junkers wind tunnel pics are in the Graefe "Junkers " book written by Wagner . However ,the two Horten still puzzle me . Any help would be welcomed . Greetings Richard |
Re: Negatives 5-28
That guy "auction-factory" is well known, he's one of the main "butchers" killing nice photo albums. Frequently, he sells the empty albums. There were unique albums of Akaflieg Darmstadt, all gone.
Now, selling those pic-pics, it seems to me that he can't stop making money. No idea on the 2 Horten model pics, never seen either. Regards, Peter |
Re: Negatives 5-28
I am unable to determine the date of the film stock used to make the negatives. The Horten models are very interesting. I recall seeing a photo of Hanna Reitsch and another young lady looking at a model airplane version of an American P-51 during the war.
Even if these are photographs of photographs, they appear not to be selling and those with bids seem affordable. However, there is a slight chance that (A) these are the photo files of some collector or publishing company. (B) An even slimmer chance that these are a mix of secret and not so secret photos made by someone during the war or immediately after for safekeeping. Regards to all, Ed |
