Major Paul Zorner

Good Evening Everyone,

I have just returned from a trip to Germany, where I spent some time with my good friend, Major Paul Zorner.

He wishes me to pass on his best wishes to everyone, and to those of you who have taken the time and trouble to contact him over the years.

However, he asked me to put out a request, through this forum, for all Luftwaffe enthusiasts not to wite to him any further because of his declining health. He has got to a stage now that he is unable to walk to the post office and send back letters or signed photographs.

He feels extremely humble, and grateful, to everyone who has written to him and has enjoyed replying to almost all letters sent to him.

It is a sad eventuality that all of these pilots/aircrew, have now reached an age where many find it difficult to continue their correspondence with us enthusiasts and students of history.

Paul Zorner hopes that everyone will understand his position.

With many thanks,

David.

Very understandable, have enjoyed reading about him in yours and other books. How many authors would he have had contact with in the last 20 years alone? it would be a few.
Best wishes to him :)

How many unconfirmed victories did Paul Zorner had during WWII. He served in the Eastern Front with NJG-100. As I recalled,Paul Zorner was in the Bundesluftwaffe for over one year but was unfit to fly. May Zorner find peace in Heaven with the Lord. He passed away a few years ago.

Zorner had three unconfirmed, and 55 confirmed, Abschüsse in WWII.

Best, Theo

Re: Major Paul Zorner

Thank you for your answer. But I thought that Zorner had 59 air to air victories confirmed during WWII.

Sincerely,

Re: Major Paul Zorner

Hello Edward -I checked all of Zorner's Abschüsse in the original OKL/RLM Abschussfilme, plus the Anerkannte Abschussübersichte of the units that he served with, the right count is 55 confirmed plus 3 unconfirmed. These are all detailed in the Nachtjagd Combat Archive series.

Cheers, Theo
