MAJOR MULLOCK MC DFC RA

W/C S. Baker flew Lancaster ND709 635 squadron on 7 February 1945 on war operations to Cleve, acting as Master Bomber. One of his crew (listed in his meticulously kept log book) was a Major Mullock of the Royal Artillery. Who was he & how did he have the MC & DFC. My guess is that they are WWI awards & that he was a Flak expert on 8 Group - but that's a complete guess. Or was he an AOP Auster pilot along for the ride?

The LG shows him being on attachment to the RAF, and he received both his MC (July 1942) and DFC (Dec 1944), whilst on attachment - however there are no citations.

Though there is no obituary, ther is this appreciation at the time of his death. From: The Times, Wednesday, Dec 06, 1961

Many thanks. I have now come across Major Mullock in a photograph of HQ PFF in December 1944. It's not very distinct but there is possibly a single wing brevet above his medal ribbons. Obviously a very unique & brave character. Would be fascinating to know his duties in Bomber Command & the backgrounds to the gallantry awards.
