Nordmann

Hello Remi

Prien has:

17 October 1940: Bf 109 E-4 (W.Nr. 2050) flown by Oberleutnant Karl-Gottfried Nordmann, Staffelkapitän of 3./JG 77, emergency landing at Cap Gris Nez due to aerial combat, 100%

I hope that this helps you.

Horrido!

Re: Karlfried Nordmann

The info we have is somewhat contradictory. It states that by October 1941 he was Hptm. and Kommandeur IV./JG 51 and that he was Oblt. and Staka 12./JG 51. I expect that what really happened was that he was an Oblt. but appointed acting Kdr. while concurrently remaining Staka 12./51.

Nordmann

Hello Doug

According to Prien's victory list for JG 51 and all information that I have seen, Nordmann was a Hauptmann by October 1941 and Gruppenkommandeur of IV./JG 51. It is my information that the Staffelkapitän of 12./JG 51 at the time was Oberleutnant Heinz Bär. Bär succeeded Nordmann in this position on 20 July 1941. I hope this helps.

Horrido!

Did Karl-Gottfried Nordmann settled in the USA and became a Untied States citizen right after WWII? I found out that he died in the USA on July,22,1982.

I think I have seen a picture of the c/l on the shore in a local historical publication (Wissant).
Sorry no copy to provide.

I believe he was living in the USA in the latter stages of his life like a number of others such as Horst Geyer who split his time between Germany & the States
