Help with ID of Aircarft Carrier photos
Hi Folks,
I have today obtained several original photographs of a Royal Navy aircraft carrier (during WW2) with substantial damage either fire/bomb. The photos do not give any clue to the date, location or the ID of the carrier. There are however two aircraft with serial numbers visible they are KD (or MD) 336 and KD (orMD) 364. These are single engined folding wing aircraft. Can anyone ID the carrier from the above. As always any information greatfully recieved. Unfortunately, my scanner is not working but as soon as its back on line I'll post the photos, Cheers, Del. |

Do the pictures look like this?
http://www.iwmcollections.org.uk/med...e/A_029313.jpg That is HMS FORMIDABLE after it was hit by a kamikaze in early May 1945. Corsair IV KD336 was 1841 Squadron (but that needs confirmation) |
Re: Help with ID of Aircarft Carrier photos
Yes, it looks pretty much the same but close up, there are some excellent fire fighting shots showing damaged aicraft and fires. Thanks for the info on the Corsair, there are only the two with readable numbers. Thanks again for you help. As soon as I get my scanner sorted out I'll post the photos. Cheers Del.
