808 Squadron Battle of Britain
Hi guys
Eight pilots of newly formed 808 Squadron on Fulmars were awarded the Battle of Britain Clasp. I understand the unit was based at Castletown. Do we know when these pilots flew operational sorties to qualify for the award? Cheers Brian |

Re: 808 Squadron Battle of Britain
Brian,
Part of the answer in following story: http://www.flyingmarines.com/Biograp...1-1940/Hay.htm Scroll down to 11. General. No 808 Squadron was attached to Fighter Command for some time in 1940. Regards, Leendert |
Re: 808 Squadron Battle of Britain
Thanks Leendert
I assume they flew convoy patrols to earn the Clasp. Cheers Brian |
Re: 808 Squadron Battle of Britain
According to the Men of the Battle of Britain all 8 flew dockyard patrols from July until October. Their last base of Donibristle would put them on the frontline for defence against strikes from Norway, so I would suppose that entitles them to the clasp.
